Tamlyn Naomi Tomita was born on the 27th of January in 1966. The kid of Japanese descent was born to parents Shiro and Asako. Her father was a sergeant in the LA Police department. He during his time at the department served for the first Asian Taskforce.
For her education, Tamlyn went to the Granada Hills High School in San Fernando Valley, in the same city. After completing her high school, she enrolled at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)with a major in history.

She was next in the film ‘The Joy Luck Club’ (1993), and the director was Wayne Wang. The film was was able to earn around three times its budget and took Tomita to the heights. The movie was about relationships between Chinese-American women and their mothers.
