The veteran actor was born on 12 May 1981 as Rami Said Malek. He was born as the son of Egyptian immigrant parents Nelly Abdel-Malek and Said Malek in Torrance, California, the U.S. A. In 1978, his parents and older sister Yasmine immigrate to Sherman Oaks, the USA from Cairo. At the time, his father worked as a travel agent and tour guide. After arriving in the US, his father worked as an insurance agent whereas his mother, an accountant.
Besides his older sister, he has a twin brother named Sami, four minutes younger than him made his career as an English teacher and ESL. The siblings grew up in the Coptic Orthodox faith. He attended Notre Dame High School where the actress Rachel Bilson was his classmate and actress Kristen Dunst a year junior. During high school, he participated in acting classes after his teacher encouraged him. In 1999, he joined the University of Evansville and flew to England after a semester. There he pursued his education at Harlaxton College, Harlaxton, Lincolnshire.
