The veteran doctor was born on 4 October 1953, as the son of Chicago Sun-Times columnist Vernon Jarrett and Fernetta Jarrett and a brother named Thomas S. Jarrett. Before his death, William had appointed as the new director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Jackson Park Hospital. Further, he was also a surgeon and a lecture at Pontiac General Hospital in Michigan where served as residency. Later he appointed as chief resident before coming to Chicago.
