Erin Moran was an American actress who came to fame for her role of Joanie Cunningham in the American sitcom “Happy Days” and spin-off “Joanie Loves Chachi”. For the sitcom, she portrayed the sister of Richie Cunningham and was the freckled face troublemaker in disguise.

Erin Marie Moran was born on the 18th of October, 1960, in Burbank, California. She grew up alongside 5 other siblings and was the second youngest of the children. Moran was born to parents Sharon Moran and Edward Moran who working as a financial manager for a firm.

Erin came to the world of Hollywood at a very young age. After having penned a deal with an agency, she landed a role in the 1966 television series, “Darachi”. The show was on air for the next three years and this helped Erin’s popularity soar to a new level. Soon after, Erin got the role of Joanie Cunningham in Happy Days. She was only 13 when she got cast for the sitcom. Erin soon began featuring in movies like The Love Boat, She Wrote and Galaxy of Terror.

Looking at her love life, Erin was first married to Rocky Ferguson in 1987. However, as things did not work out, the couple had to split up in 1993. The same year, Moran got married to Steven Fleischmann and the two moved to the California Mountains. After the cancellation of Happy Days, Moran was on her all-time low She began suffering from depression and was not getting as many roles.

As per interviews with close friends and family members, Moran began overusing drugs and alcohol after the shows were taken off the air. The beautiful story of Erin Moran sadly ended when she died on the 22nd of April, 2017, at 56 years of age. Reports suggest that her death was due to throat cancer complication.
