He has worked for CNN as a national news correspondent in the past and has also worked for CBS before joining CNN. Jim Acosta was born on 17th April 1971 in Virginia which makes his nationality an American. However, Acosta originally belongs to Cuban descent. His father at the age 11, after the infamous Cuban missile crisis came to the United States and grew up in Virginia. As a matter of fact, Acosta was born and brought up in America. Later, Acosta graduated from a high school in Virginia named Annadale High School in the year 1989. After high school, Acosta went to James Madison University from where he graduated majoring in mass communication. He also took political science as his minor.
Initially, Jim started his career by working in radio. He first became a local radio presenter for the radio station named WSVA. After which he pursued his career professionally joining WMAL in Washington D.C. He began his career in the TV after leaving the radio job starting as an assistant in WTTG-TV. It was in 1994 when he finally faced the camera as a substitute anchor for WBIR Tv in Knoxville. Moving on, Costa then began working for the KTVT TV and WBBM. His first big break was when he joined CBS News as a correspondent in the year 2001-2003. He worked there covering some of the major news events from the hurricane Katrina to Iraq war and the presidency of John Kerry.
Later in April of 2007, Acosta left CBS and joined CNN where he covered the presidential elections of 2008, the campaigns and other major political scenarios that occurred during that time. Covering some of the most successfully run programs, Acosta got a promotion by CNN as a national political correspondent in the year 2012. Gradually he is currently in the place in the network as a Senior White House Correspondent. During the ex-president Barack Obama’s historic trip to Cuba, Acosta flew to Cuba as well to cover the trip that was of high significance.

Jim Acosta was married to his registered nurse wife named Sharon Mobley Stow for twenty-four long years. They met in college and were married in the year 1994. The couple separated and finally divorced in September of 2017. Together they have two children. The real reason behind the divorce is unknown as both of them haven’t spoken about the matter yet.
