Kevin Lazan was born sometime around 1980, in Florida. He was born to father David M. Lazan who was a lawyer, and mother, Judi Lazan, who worked as a realtor. Lazan is of Jewish faith and is of American nationality. From a very young age, Kevin was influenced by his father and had a passion for law. For his education, Kevin joined the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 1998. He graduated in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in legal studies and journalism.
After the completion of his education, Lazan began working at Puck Agency LLC as a junior agent. Having spent three years of his life with the agency, Kevin left it to join Railway Meda LLC where he held the position of operations manager. It was around the same time when Lazan began working as an operations manager at CR Media, LLC, of which he was also a founding member. Kevin again began studying to complete his MBA at the NY University Stern School of Business. He graduated with an MBA in Strategy and Finance. In January of 2016, Kevin began his own counter-service cafe and all-day eatery called The Gables.

Kevin first met Rachel Platten in 2006, New York when Rachel was still an aspiring singer. According to the singer, their first date did not go exactly as planned. It was far from an ordinary one as Kevin took her to a really gross, dingy bar. Kevin, however, instantly regretted this and was extremely apologetic. Nevertheless, the did have that instantaneous connection between them from the very start.
After having been together with Rachel for almost 6 years, Kevin proposed to her on a tree-lined carriage walk in New England. As per Platten, she did not want the same old wedding for her and wanted it to be really special. She was looking for a glamorous wedding in the countryside. The pair said their vows in 2012 at Mount Hope Farm in Bristol, Rhode Island. It was a traditional Jewish ceremony and in the presence of their close family and friends. On the 1st of February, 2019, Rachel gave birth to the pairs first baby Violet Skye Lazan.
