His parents were together from 1976 to 1991. He has a younger biological brother named Mathias who is a race driver. His father later married his second wife Birgit Wetzinger, a flight attendant for his airline in 2008. The duo gave birth to twins: a boy Max and a girl Mia in September 2009.
