Suptic and Clayton James became friends in 2012, he knew Editor Autumn Farrell and James DeAngelis while working at SourceFed and together they co-founded Sugar Pine 7. By 2017, Sugar Pine 7’s YouTube channel gained over one million subscribers and more than 60 million video views. After SourceFed was canceled in early 2017, he started his ‘Alternative Lifestyle’ YouTube series.

According to Steven, the show is a “freeze-frame narrated, hyper-surrealistic, an improv-based comedy that uses the vlog format as a vehicle to promote a character-driven story.” SourceFed transmuted to become what is now SugarPine 7- also a part of the Rooster Teeth family. Subsequently, the Series won the Streamy Award for Show of the Year.

In an interview, Steven Suptic said during the time he worked as SourceFed and anticipated the company will fold someday, he put a lot of extra efforts on his personal channel. Steven was doing uninspired reaction and challenge videos to earn extra money. Still, as his freeze-frame-narrated content caught the interests of a lot of fans who loved his videos and next it became a career and a source of livelihood.

Apart from managing the company, Steven reveals he’s working on an actual novel, not like YouTube. He said, “I don’t know if it will be good yet, but so far I’m proud of what I’ve written. I like Riverdale, so my opinion on writing might not be worth considering.”
