Her father, Adhemar was a butcher while her mother Therese Tanguay was a homemaker. Celine was inclined to music from a very young age because of her family that shared similar passions. Her parents also ran a small bar called ‘Le Vieux Baril’. Her mother sent the demo tape to the music manager Rene Angelil who at once saw the potential of the young girl. Rene mortgaged his own house to finance Dion’s debut album, ‘La Voix du Bon Dieu’ (The Voice of God). The album was an instant hit and earned her fame she could not even imagine; she was a star in Quebec.

Dion began her career singing French songs for the most part, however, she did manage to learn English later. In 1990, Dion released her first English debut album ‘Unison’ in North America. Three years later, Dion came up with a new album ‘The Color of My Love’ which was mostly full of romantic ballads. One of her songs in the album ‘The Power of Love’ went on to hit no. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100.

Dion was anxious that her fans or her family would not be supportive of her choices but the marriage did not seem to make any influence on Dion’s fame. Celine for several years was unable to have a child and had to have two surgeries to increase her chances of being a mother.
