Arko Mukhaerjee was born in Bengal, India which makes his nationality an Indian. The 32-year-old singer was born to an All-India Radio artist mother who helped him to learn the Indian classical musical notes. Similarly, his father too contributed for him to aspire to be a musician. In an interview, he revealed that his father would take him on his cycle while he was only two years through the way to the market while singing to him. His father would often sing Bengali folk songs that Arko picked later and started singing.
He learned music until the age of 10 and began singing while at 17-18 but then gave up because of its limited scope in the future. However, he continued with the music yet again in the year 2001 working collaboratively with some of the local artists like the Dutta Brothers Amyt of Pinknoise and Skinny Alley and the late Latin music percussionist Monojit (aka Kochuda). From there he began his career in music.
In the year 2011, he went to France where he started making music along with his ex-partner and a harpist Anna Tanvir. The two had a band together named Crossover, together they worked collaboratively and performed at many festivals and concerts together. They moved to England but that didn’t stop Arko from performing in the streets while amusing people with his diversity. Eventually, he released his album with eight compositions in an animation titled The Lion & The Hamster. Arko was counted among the top artists in Bangladesh.
His career changed when he went to perform at the Dhaka Sufi Festival and Nepal Gypsy Jazz Festival which added to his stardom.

Arko Mukhaerhjee was in a relationship with harpist Anna Tanvir the daughter of the Indian theatre legend Habib Tanvir. They worked as musicians and traveled across Europe working in collaboration. They had a band together which they named Crossover. Anna Tanvir herself is a talented singer often connecting music from the East and the West. She was born in Ireland and grew up there listening to Irish music and getting inspired by it. After meeting Arko, she worked with his band after which started one together.
They are not very vocal about their personal lives and have so far managed to maintain their privacy. In the past, the two were in a relationship but that didn’t last long. The couple separated after few years but never revealed the real reason behind the split.
