The former political personality was born on 31 January 1947 as Rima Elizabeth Horton in Bayswater, London, the United Kingdom into a working-class family. She is the third of four children of the parents of Elice Irene (née Frame, 1906–1984) and Wilfred Stewart Horton (1905–2003). She has three siblings but there is no information about them. Further, she has a nationality of British and belongs to native white ethnicity.
Regarding her education, she attended the co-Ed private St. Vincent’s primary school and City of London School for Girls. After that, she joined the University of Southampton. At the age of 15, she had performed in theatre at school and joined several amateur groups including the Brook Drama Club with whom she went to Paris in 1962.

The actor died in London at the age of 69 on 14 January 2016 and had suffered terminal cancer as well as a minor stroke in August 2015.
