Nev Schulman is an American TV host who came to fame for the documentary Catfish which was produced in 2010. Schulman is also an amazing photographer and his photos have made appearances in many popular magazines. Nev later went on to found a film and photography production company along with his brother and a friend. The trio came up with the above-mentioned thriller film Catfish. It went on to receive wide critical acclaim and resulted in an MTV series, “Catfish: The TV Show.”
In more recent years, Nev has been the executive producer and the co-host of the MTV show. He is also the moderator for it, uniting online couples who are yet to meet in person. Nev Schulman: Early Life and Education
Yaniv Schulman was born on the 26th of September, 1984, in New York City, New York. His name Yaniv comes from a Hebrew word, where it means “He’ll prosper”, and boy did he prosper. Nev comes from a mixed ethnicity with German-Polish-Jewish backgrounds. He also has an elder brother, Ariel Schulman, who like him is an actor and a filmmaker.
From a very young age, Schulman was fond of dancing. He went on to take dancing classes for 5 years and was performing for the company called “National Dance Institute”. For his education, Nev joined the “Sarah Lawrence College”. He had big dreams and was studying dance and photography. However, in April of 2006, he got expelled from his college after assaulting a female student. He did try to persuade the college to take him back in but it was not meant to be.

After having to leave the college, Schulman began working with the New York City Ballet Community. His role for the Community was a dance photographer and this helped him land more work for top papers like “Vogue”, “The New York Times”, “New York Sun”, etc. Next, Nec went on to co-found the Young Leadership Committee for the youth organization, “Leave Out Violence.”
After a spell of brief stints, his big break finally came in 2010. It was for a documentary film that would go on to change his fortunes. The documentary was filmed by the elder of the Schulman’s and Henry Joost. The Catfish documentary was about Schulman’s friendship through Facebook with a little girl, Abby. Schulman then went on to befriend her mother and was attracted to her sister Megan. This documentary led to a new MTV show Catfish: The TV Show. For the show, Nev alongside his colleagues tries to introduce couples who have been dating online.

We did mention that Schulman fell in love with his internet crush Megan. It even blossomed into a relationship and lasted for 6 months. The two did share a lot of personal details with each other during this brief period. This for some reason caught the attention of his older brother, Ariel. Then Ariel alongside with Henry began filming the whole story. The three thought that Megan was hiding things from him so they went on to pay Megan’s family a surprise visit in Michigan.
Nev then got to learn that this relationship was built in deception. It went on to be a bitter experience for Schulman but this did help convey a message to everyone about the dark side of social media. The only good thing to come out of this was this documentary Catfish which many young audiences could relate.

Despite all the drama Nev had to go through which led to a documentary, he is now a happily married man. He is together with his wife Laura Perlongo and the two said their vows on the 22nd of July, 2017. The wedding was in presence of close friends and family in his family’s place in East Hampton.
As of today, the couple has one little child- a beautiful girl Cleo James. She was born on October 21, 2016, and well before the wedding. Evidently, the beautiful kid stole the show at their wedding. Today, Nev with his wife Laura and daughter Cleo are enjoying a wonderful life together and we wish them all the luck.
