Patrick Chung is a professional Jamaican-American football strong safety in the National Football League(NFL). He plays under the New England Patriots after the team drafted him in the second round in the 2009 NFL Draft. Before that, he finished his collegiate game at Oregon and also been a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Furthermore, he is also named as the minority owners of Major League Rugby’s team New England Free Jacks along with Nate Ebner. On 21 August 2019, he was indicted on a charge of possession of cocaine in Laconia, New Hampshire. Fortunately, the charge was conditionally dismissed on 13 January 2020. The football player was born as Patrick Christopher Chung on 19 August 1987 in Kingston, Jamaica. He grew up in a family of ten members including his four brothers and three sisters. His mother Sophia George Chung is a Jamaican reggae artist. Whereas his father Ronald Chung worked as a music producer and manager of his mother. In addition, he has a mixed ethnicity of partial Chinese and Jamaican descent. At the age of ten, he along with his family moved to California. He then attended and completed his high school in Rancho Cucamonga in California. During his high school, he had played football as a safety and wide receiver as well as gained an All-League pick twice.
After that, he joined the University of Oregon in 2004 where he redshirted and took over at the rover position in 2005 ranking second position. In his junior years, the player had received a title of Second Team All-American, first-team All-Pac-10 Conference, and the Gordon E. Wilson Award. Further, he also gained All-Pac 10 honor in 2005-08 and holds the starting more games in the history of Oregon than any other defensive player during his collegiate games.

In 2008, he announced to enter the NFL Draft, however, he decided to return to his senior year in Oregon collegiate game. Following the year, he participated in the 2009 Senior Bowl as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals’. In the same year, The New England Patriots selected him in the second round and 34th overall. However, he was traded from Kansas City Chiefs to the Patriots in the second-round pick. Then he signed Patriots $5 million and a four-year contract with a signing bonus of $2 million. He finished his rookie year with 37 combined tackles, two sacks, and an interception in his 16 games and one start.
After being freed from the Patriots, he signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on 12 March 2013 with $10 million and $4 million guaranteed. However, he was released by the team after only one season stating widely attributed to his injuries and problem with tackling and multiple incidents. On 3rd April, he signed Patriots for a $1.10 million contract that includes a $120,000 guaranteed and a signing bonus of $60,000.
Following his three years extended contract with $8.20 million with $3.40 million guaranteed and $2.40 million signing bonus, he made a solo tackle in their 28-24 victory against the Seattle Seahawks. As of 2021, he is playing under the Patriots with his two-year contract extension till the 2023 season game.

Moving toward his personal life, the 33-years-old as of January 2021, is not single anymore. In fact, he has married a beautiful lady named Cecilia Champion. The couple met in Boston and started to date after a few meetings and tied a knot on 30 June 2012. They welcomed their first child, Taj James Chung, on 18 September 2010. But it seems that the couple has separated as of now but not many details of their split available on the media.
Furthermore, he has shared his newly pregnant girlfriend’s pictures on his social media platform. Also, he has opted out of the 2020 NFL season saying his girlfriend Regan Johnson is pregnant and the baby is coming out soon. And his son has asthma as well as he has a 15 years old dad.
