Rush Limbaugh was born on January 12, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Rush Hudson Limbaugh, Jr, and Mildred Carolyn. His father was a U.S Lawyer and a fighter while his mother a native of Arkansas. His name was given to him by his grandfather. Limbaugh actually belongs to a German ancestry as his forefathers were from Germany. Similarly, he went to Cape Girardeau, Missouri Central High School after which he attended Southeast Missouri State University but did not complete his degree.

He first started out his career from the radio itself. Initially, he began as a music disc jockey on WIXZ, which was a small AM radio station based in Pennsylvania. Later, he did some morning and afternoon shows but then moved to Pittsburgh station KQV as an evening disc jockey. After losing the job he took several different jobs in radio stations until in the 1980s when he found a breakthrough from KFBK in Sacramento, as a talk show host. ABC Radio President Edward McLaughlin discovered Rush, who gave him his first national radio show for which he moved to New York. The talk show became increasingly popular giving him the most exposure and recognition throughout America. His talk show, The Rush Limbaugh Show successfully garnered millions of listeners and lifted his career in general.
