The girl who started acting at the age of 6 and is still doing until she is 78 is no other than Jill St John. The 1971 film Diamonds Are Forever‘s Bond girl Tiffany Case is the same St John. The film is her identity.
It was on the radio that St John started acting at the age of 6. And you might be surprised if I told you St John is not Jill’s actual surname. In fact, her mother adopted the name for her to gain conformity in Hollywood. St John was born as Jill Arlyn Oppenheim.

Jill St John- Early Life & Education
St John was born to Edward Oppenheim, a successful Restaurant Owner. Her mother was Betty Oppenheim who also became her stage mother as she started early as a child artist. Jill was born in the year of 1940, August 19 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Jill had her debut on screen through TV show Sandy Dreams. She was only 9 then. Young St John was also a member of the Children’s Ballet Company.
Jill also played a minor character in the 1951 film Thunder in the East.
Additionally, St John appeared in some episodes of Sky King, Fireside Theatre, Cavalcade of America and radio shows including One Man’s Family. This was before and after she had her high school diploma.
St John attended Powers Professional School and did high school diploma from Hollywood Professional School in 1955. After that, she got engaged in UCLA’s Extension School.

After playing a remarkable number of characters on the radio, Jill signed a 7 years contract with Universal Pictures in 1957. They paid her $200 per week as a starter. It was then that she had her debut Summer Love 1958 alongside John Saxon. Jill also appeared in episodes of The Christophers, Schlitz Playhouse, The DuPont Show of the Month.
As an addition to her career, Jill had another contract with 20th Century Fox. This led to her further being a star. From the comedy “The Remarkable Mr. Pennypacker (1959) and Holiday for Lovers (1959) to adventure movie The Lost World(1960), her career seemed only blooming.
Jill is more of a comedian. Her 1963 comedy film Come Blow Your Horn- she received a nomination for “Golden Globe Award as Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy”.
On discovering that comedy is her forte, Jill did several other comedy dramas as Who’s Minding The Store, Who’s Been Sleeping in My Bed, Honeymoon Hotel and such. St John also appeared in the first two episodes of Batman as Molly in 1966.
During her later career, St John started appearing with her husband/ boyfriend Robert Wagner. Those involve Around the World in 80 Days (1989), Something to Believe in (1998), The Calling (2002), etc.
She has also appeared without Wagner in the 1995 movie- Out There and The Trip (2002). Jill reappeared in 2014 and played Mrs. Claus in the TV film Northpole alongside Wagner. In spite of all she has given to her profession, she believes personal happiness is greater than a career.

Jill married Neil Dubin in 1957. The married couple separated soon in the latter year. Lance Reventlow was her second husband from 1960 to 1963. She had a third marriage in 1967 with Jack Jones. The relationship, however, lasted for only two years.
Later in 1990, she got married for the fourth time with Robert Wagner. The couple had dated for 8 long years before they took the vow. Wagner calls her “Magic”.
St John has no children of her own yet she is a stepmother to three of Wagner’s daughters.
